London South East Colleges is a Rights Respecting College

“The Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Award aims to put young people’s rights at the heart of an education provider’s practice and ethos, to create safe and inspiring places to learn so young people are able to thrive and reach their full potential.”

London South East Colleges is extremely proud to be only the second Further and Higher Education College in the United Kingdom to have been awarded Level 1 of the Rights Respecting Schools Award. This award comes after only beginning the rights respecting journey in October 2016, achieving the first stage of the award, the Recognition of Commitment, in December 2016 and Level 1 in June 2017.

With dedicated staff and student Unicef Ambassadors the College has championed this work in curriculum areas including ESOL, English, Health and Social Care and Learner Enrichment with the College's LIVE team. Starting from September 2017, we will be expanding this good practice into all curriculum areas across all campuses.

London South East Colleges is committed to respecting and promoting young people’s rights in all that we do, and affords every opportunity to our staff and learners to become rights respecting citizens.
