Course information

This course is ideal for complete beginners as you will be shown how to set up and use a sewing machine. You will learn basic pattern cutting skills as well as sewing techniques such as gathering, adding piping, inserting zips etc. From then on you have a choice of soft furnishings and/or household goods such as zippered cushion covers, quilted place mats, table runners etc. which you will be able to make.You will learn:

  • How to set up and use a sewing machine 

  • How to produce simple patterns for home furnishings. 

  • How to use an overlocker 

  • A variety of sewing techniques such as inserting zips, making buttonholes, gathering, making and inserting piping etc.
