About the course

This course allows you to study both the theory and practice of a wide range of theatre styles. You will have the opportunity to take part in theatre productions in various roles such as actor, scriptwriter, director and producer.

You will receive a variety of performance opportunities, ranging from performing in own performance space to creating new plays and performing at professional venues including Greenwich Theatre, Churchill Theatre and the Bussy Building as well as participating in national events such as the National Student Drama Festival and the Connections Competition at the National Theatre. You will also create your own productions and take it on tour to local schools.

Throughout the course, you will benefit from workshops with professional actors, writers, directors and producers. You will also be taken on theatre trips at least once a term.

Assessment

  • Assessment is by course work and assignments, which are both internally and externally assessed. These take the form of performances to an audience

Entry requirements

  • Acting BTEC Level 2 Diploma
  • You need to be dedicated, reliable, mature, creative and passionate about working in the theatre
  • You need to be independent and a good team worker
  • You need to be able to research, rehearse and focus at a high standard
  • Selection is by interview, audition and internal tests in English and maths.

Moving forward

  • By the end of the two-year course students are well equipped for the professional world of theatre or for further study at university or drama school
  • Successful completion of this course could lead you on to study at leading drama schools including RADA, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford, LIPA, East 15, Bristol Old Vic and LAMDA. You could also progress to leading universities such as London South Bank, Kent, Manchester, Greenwich, Goldsmiths and Liverpool
