About the course

This course will help you learn basic skills and give you a good grounding for a career in the electronics and mechanical engineering industries. It covers a wide range of skills that can be adapted for many specialist areas.

  • Making components using hand tools
  • Fitting techniques
  • Using a lathe
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • English, maths, science and IT

Assessment

  • Assessment is by observation of practical activities taking the form of a series of assignments developed in the respective practical workshops and written assignments for each unit

Entry requirements

  • 2 GCSEs - grades A*-F including English and maths
  • Selection is by interview and internal tests
