About the course

If you would like to develop a deeper understanding of the policy and practice issues surrounding supporting individuals with additional needs and develop an understanding of Mental Health, the Autistic Spectrum or Physical Disability, this is the course for you.
This qualification is for learners wishing to explore vocational study alongside learning skills and is ideal for learners who are not yet ready to commit to a larger qualification.

What you will study

You will study three modules and be internally assessed. The core modules cover Introduction to Study Skills and Person Centered Support in Health & Social Care - then you will choose one of three pathways:

  • Pathway A - Introduction to Mental Health
  • Pathway B - Introduction to Autistic Spectrum Condition
  • Pathway C - Introduction to Physical Disability


  • Assessment is on-going and developed through a portfolio of course work and projects

Entry requirements

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • GCSEs - grades A-C /9 - 4 in English and maths preferred, however, each application will be considered on an individual basis
  • Selection is by interview, initial screening, literacy and numeracy test

Moving forward

On successful completion this course, you can progress onto an Access to HE Diploma in a related subject at London South East Colleges.
