About the course

This course gives you the chance to gain a good understanding of fundamental biological concepts and principles. It is an intensive course and runs one evening per week.

Assessment

  • There will be two written exams, testing the understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of the course

Entry requirements

  • Students should preferably have GCSE Maths and English at grade C / 4 or above and preferably have studied science before
  • Students with non-standard qualifications will be considered on a case by case basis and may be asked to sit a short test and attend an interview

Moving forward

  • This course will enable you to gain a GCSE in a science subject, which is required by many HE courses, e.g. PGCE in primary teaching. You are advised to check the specific entry requirements with the university of their choice
  • GCSE Biology can count towards the entry qualifications for Access to Higher Education courses, and BTEC Level 3 Applied Science (Diploma 90)
