Del from Spudos talk to learners
We welcomed Spudos to our Greenwich Campus for an Enterprise and Sustainability Challenge Day, giving learners the opportunity to tackle a real-world business challenge and put their enterprise, marketing and sustainability skills into practice.

The collaborative event brought together learners from Business, IT and Media to explore how Spudos, a sustainable food business, could successfully expand into the education sector.

The day began with an inspiring talk from Del Currie of Spudos, who shared his entrepreneurial journey and insights into building a brand, developing innovative an product and scaling a business. Learners also explored the opportunities and challenges of sustainability within the food industry.

Following the talk, learners worked in teams to respond to a live employer brief: how can Spudos successfully scale into colleges and educational environments?

The challenge encouraged learners to think creatively about how to reach target audiences, develop marketing campaigns, strengthen brand awareness and identify opportunities to introduce Spudos products into college settings.

This gave learners the chance to apply their classroom knowledge to practical business decisions while developing their teamwork, problem-solving and presentation skills.

Turning ideas into real-world solutions
Throughout the day, learners received guidance and feedback as they developed their proposals. Product tasting and feedback activities also gave them the opportunity to share their views on the products, consider customer preferences and explore the importance of understanding a target market.

Learners then presented their proposals to a panel of representatives from Spudos and the College, pitching their ideas and answering questions about their strategies.

The presentations highlighted the importance of innovation, effective marketing and sustainability when developing a business and bringing products to new audiences.

Connecting education with industry
The challenge day forms part of our commitment to providing learners with opportunities to engage directly with employers and gain experience of real business scenarios.
