London South East Colleges offers a taste of the Orient

London South East Colleges have taken a unique step this week by introducing Chinese language and culture to its curriculum and enrichment programme.

Deputy Principal Andrew Slade welcomed Head Teacher of Orpington Chinese Languages School Gigi Chen to Bromley to take part in a partnership agreement signing ceremony.

Greenwich Community College and Bexley College have today formally merged with Bromley College of Further and Higher Education to create London South East Colleges.

The creation of London South East Colleges will secure the future for learners throughout the region. It will provide outstanding education and training opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and interests.

Each college within the group will continue to offer a wide range of qualifications. There will also be increased opportunities for students to progress onto higher level apprenticeships and degree courses.

Former GB, England, Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos rugby star, Jamie Peacock MBE visited London South East Colleges today to give a motivational talk to students beginning their learner journey this September.

Jamie made over 550 first-class appearances in his rugby league career. This included nine Super League titles, four Challenge Cups, four World Club Challenge titles and two World’s Best titles. He came to our Holly Hill Construction Campus during the first week of term to inspire students to set themselves tough but achievable goals and to go that ‘extra mile’ in pursuit of success.

Are you interested in a career in the hospitality industry? Perhaps you have done a cookery qualification at school or just enjoy cooking at home. Whatever your experience, if you have a passion for food, then London South East Colleges can build your skills and prepare you for a career in this exciting industry.

The College's pioneering Hospitality, Food and Enterprise Career College was launched in Orpington in 2014. It offers a range of courses at all levels, taught by experts in industry-standard facilities. Along with its state-of the-art training kitchens, you will have the chance to practice your skills in the College's new town centre restaurant, BR6. As well as gaining first-hand experience in preparing and serving food to customers, students get an insight into how a commercial venture is managed and run. The Career College is supported by employers from top businesses including the Hilton, the Hyatt and Springboard Group. Input from these advisors helps ensure that students learn the skills that are completely relevant to the world of work and are what businesses need.
