The Higher Development Award (HDA) is a personal and professional development programme for Clinical and Non-Clinical support workers from all sectors to “be the best and acknowledge potential”.
The Award has provided a progression pathway for many, allowing access to multi-professional higher and degree apprenticeships, as well as traditional pre-registration routes. It also includes development for those wishing to stay and gain promotion in support worker roles.
Key benefits include gaining new knowledge and skills to increase awareness and improve patient and service user outcomes.
HDAs have three levels which support learners at different entry levels:
Level one
Provides learners with an introduction to personal development and team skills and functional skills in English and maths
Level two
Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading and Level 2 in functional skills
Level three
Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management. Successful learners have the opportunity to apply for higher apprenticeships relevant to their role and specialist areas depending on funding and eligibility
