Jordan Temienor, a Level 3 Business Administration apprentice, was honoured with a Best Learner Award by the Committee of South London Principals (COSLP)
Across south east London, many businesses continue to face a shared challenge: attracting, developing, and retaining the right talent. London South East Colleges works closely with employers to help address this challenge through apprenticeships - a proven way to build skilled, motivated teams while supporting long-term business growth.

Apprenticeships are far more than an entry point into employment. They are a strategic workforce solution, offering employers access to high-quality, industry-led training worth thousands of pounds, delivered by expert trainers and funded through the apprenticeship system. This allows businesses to upskill new and existing staff without the financial pressures typically associated with professional development.

The benefits are clear. Employers report reduced recruitment costs, improved staff retention, increased productivity, and a workforce trained specifically to meet the needs of their sector and organisation. From 9-15 February 2026, National Apprenticeship Week will shine a national spotlight on the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, employers, and the wider economy. Now in its 19th year, the campaign celebrates how apprenticeships help close skills gaps and create future-ready workforces.

Apprenticeships continue to grow in popularity, with participation across England now exceeding 760,000 learners, as more people recognise the value of this practical and respected career pathway.

The true impact of apprenticeships is best seen through real success stories. Sophie Hanlon, a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprentice with London South East Colleges, was recently recognised with an award celebrating her outstanding progress. Sophie has thrived in her role, taken on increased responsibility, and strengthened her team’s capabilities, achievements that have led to an offer of a permanent role as an Apprenticeship Officer.

Similarly, Jordan Temienor, a Level 3 Business Administration apprentice, was honoured with a Best Learner Award by the Committee of South London Principals (COSLP). His professionalism, commitment, and contribution to his organisation demonstrate the real return apprenticeships can deliver when high-quality training is combined with meaningful workplace experience.

With National Apprenticeship Week approaching, now is an ideal time for employers to consider taking on an apprentice, whether recruiting for the first time or expanding an existing programme. Apprenticeships offer a cost-effective way to invest in people, strengthen your workforce, and gain a competitive edge.

London South East Colleges’ Employer Engagement Team works closely with businesses across south east London to make apprenticeships simple, flexible, and tailored to your organisation’s needs.
