This course will enable you to:
- Prepare to work within an ethical framework for counselling
- Understand the counselling relationship
- Understand difference and diversity issues to develop empathic understanding
- Work within a user-centred approach to counselling
- Use counselling theory to develop self-awareness in counselling practice
- Understand theories of counselling and mental health
- Use feedback, reflection and supervision to support counselling studies

Fee Information
You may be eligible to have your fees paid in full by the Greater London Authority (GLA) if you live in a London borough, meet the residency requirements and you are unemployed or earn an annual gross salary of less than £28,860 (or an hourly rate of less than £14.80 per hour). If you do not meet this criteria, a fee of £1,200 will be payable for the course. Please note that this criteria applies to the course starting in the 2026/27 academic year and is subject to change for subsequent years.
